#4: North by Northwest (1959)

Thrillseekers: This could all be avoided by going to work

This week Amity gets frustrated with the self-inflicted trials that Cary Grant goes through in Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest. Never has someone tried so hard to get themselves in trouble and never has someone had so little care for their own life without being actively seeking death. We have an excellent villain and a compelling leading lady and some very cool – and yes thrilling – set pieces. If only our protagonist wasn’t such a dumb dummy.
Recommendations: The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells; Ghost stories for Christmas, including but not limited to: The Wise Friend by Ramsey Campbell and Dark Matter by Michelle Paver and Dolly: A Ghost Story by Susan Hill
Next up: The Exorcist (1973)
